How to create a new archive

To create a new archive with TC4Shell, select the files you want in Windows Explorer, then right-click them, choose Pack to and then select one of the provided archive formats.

TC4Shell Pack to dialog

The following dialog box will appear (the available settings may vary depending on the selected archive format):

You can choose between several options in the dropdown list which suggests you possible names (with absolute paths) for a new archive. The first option is context-sensitive and represents the folder where your files are stored now, while all other options represent folders that are currently opened in Windows Explorer. You can either manually edit the suggested path and archive name or click Browse and select another path and name. To confirm the operation, click OK.

If the archive you selected already exists, TC4Shell will add files to it and/or ask you whether to replace files in the archive with newer versions (the dialog may vary depending on the Windows version and archive type).

TC4Shell may also provide additional options depending on the archive format you've selected, such as compression level. To do so, click Options and make the necessary changes in the dialog box that appears.

The list of archive types displayed in the Pack to menu is also customizable. In order to change this list, choose Customize file type list and then enable or disable the necessary options in the dialog that appears.

You can also quickly access the extended menu of any archive type by holding the Shift key and right-clicking the file to be packed. In this case, the Pack to menu will display all available archive types.

TC4Shell keeps a record of folders previously selected for file extraction and adds them to the Pack to menu. You can delete all these records by choosing Clear recent files list.
